2023 was a busy year for HR professionals and in house employment lawyers as many employers continued to grapple with how to best support their employees through the cost-of-living challenge whilst facing challenging times themselves financially. Sickness absence, hybrid working patterns and increasing numbers of grievances also featured on the ‘to do’ list for many in HR.

Against this background, changes to employment legislation were announced and, of course, the Employment Tribunals and higher courts continued to be busy with several important case law decisions landing.
